The conciliar nature of the Orthodox Church requires that we work together to articulate the faith of the fathers. Given the often technical nature of the issues it examines, Orthodox Social Thought (OST) requires the close cooperation of bishops not only with priests and deacons but also social scientists, politicians, and professionals in a wide range of fields. Put simply, it isn’t enough for the Church to speak about economics and public policy. We must also speak with economists and experts in public policy so that the guidance offered actually matches the situation professionals in these and other fields deal with on a daily basis.
