I do not comment on items posted on the internet because I don't have anything to add. However, in this case, because but this post hit's this nail right on the head, I feel compelled to say.
So, Fr. Gregory, is it fair to summarize that we (older men) need to repent to live the lives we want our children and younger, Christian brothers to live?
Yes, we who are older need to repent. At St Sophia Ukrainian Orthodox Theological Seminary, I teach classes for youth ministers. While the students mostly work with younger children, my classes focus on the challenges they will face as they grow older. I want help my students educate tomorrow's adults and not just today's children. You can find the program I teach in here https://www.uocyouth.org/youthministrycertificationcourse.
We who are older are the model against which young people will evaluate themselves and determine whether or not they wish to remain in the Church. Am I living in a manner that makes life in Christ desirable to younger Christians? Or, as you say, am I living the life I want younger Christians to live?
